about
Hi all! Back with another track for your spring vibes. "Juniper" is the second single from my upcoming album releasing later this spring. This song is a simple yet very personal tune to me in many ways.. one being the obvious because it features me singing and I'm not necessarily the vocalist... I debated many times whether I should even put this song on my upcoming album. Shared the tune with some of my close friends and they all motivated me to release it. When I was writing the instrumental for this something came over me and felt the need to sing about my issues with anxiety and what it feels like to have this feeling completely take over you when you're around people, in crowded places, or up on stage. But I guess the fear of social anxiety hasn't been much of a real threat lately with the pandemic and all, which Im not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.. For this track I really wanted to convey feelings of dreaminess and ambient (almost like a juxtaposition to the lyrics. What you hear v what things really are type of thing) using lots of spacey sounds. Most of the sound effects in this song are made using my entire collection of guitar pedals, heavy modulation, delays and reverbs. The drum/percussion rhythm is heavily inspired by Zimbabwean folk music which Ive been listening to a ton lately. Thank you for reading this far. Hope you all enjoy! x
